EDIT

The mission of EDIT is to empower youth and communities to expand their awareness of diversity issues, embrace a journey toward greater understanding and acceptance, and become committed to social action in order to create a more inclusive society.

The concept of EDIT was inspired by Awareness through Performance (ATP), a college-level social justice performance that started at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. Upon their graduation, two of ATP's pioneering members used ATP as their inspiration to design EDIT, an independent nonprofit organization, incorporated in March of 2009.
EDIT received 501(c)(3) tax exempt status in August of 2010. The organization has partnered with numerous local schools and nonprofit organizations including Urban Ventures, The Garage, and Paul and Sheila Wellstone Elementary. To date, EDIT programs have served over 600 individuals.
