My art work examines the ways in which people honor or do not honor nonhuman animals following their deaths.  While companion animals are frequently grieved and honored, those that we depend on for food and other products are rarely recognized.  With a few noteworthy exceptions, the deaths of farm animals, laboratory animals and wild animals go virtually unnoticed.  What makes one species worthy of grieving and another unworthy?  What implications do our values and judgments about nonhumans have for humanity?  I explore these issues through photography, sculpture, interactive, community-bas

Linda Pollack studied economics at Penn State University, and art at the Vrije Akademie in The Hague and the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht, the Netherlands. She spent a decade in the lowlands, eventually combining her art practice with cultural policy development while working for the European Cultural Foundation in Amsterdam. At the ECF she set up APEXchanges, a groundbreaking arts mobility fund that addressed post-cold war Europe's east / west cultural and economic divide.

Lisa Biggs is a playwright, actor, and performance studies scholar who is now based in Rhode Island. A former member of the Living Stage Theatre Company, she has developed and toured her original work to venues across the country, including Cultural Odyssey, DC Arts Center, Links Hall, Amherst College, and many more. As an actor, Lisa has appeared in productions at the Kennedy Center, Arena Stage, Lookingglass Theatre, Woolly Mammoth, City Lit, the African Continuum Theatre, and the National Black Theatre Festival.

Littleglobe is a New Mexico-based organization consisting of a diverse team of seasoned artists, facilitators, and cultural workers devoted to building individual and community capacity through collaboration and creative engagement. Littleglobe creates collaborative art that encourages community capacity and fosters life-affirming connections across the boundaries that divide us. Littleglobe works in two ways:

Living News at the National Constitution Center is a live, theatrical performance that introduces controversial constitutional issues to students and encourages them to explore their points of view on timely issues. Three actors present current issues in a dynamic and interactive way. Incorporating video, contemporary music, and current news broadcasts, Living News energizes students by including them in the discussion throughout the performance. The result will evoke passion and dialogue among your students.

Liz Green designs audience engagement programs and directs performances with people who might not consider themselves to be performers. She is currently the director for OnStage Seniors: A Community Project of McCarter Theatre, and the community engagement consultant for the upcoming events surrounding "A Fierce Kind of Love," a project of Visionary Voices and the Temple University Institute for Disabilities.

Liz Lerman founded Liz Lerman Dance Exchange in 1976. Its unique brand of dance and theatre breaks boundaries between stage and audience, theater and community, movement and language, tradition and the unexplored. Through explosive dancing, personal stories, humor, and a company of performers whose ages span six decades, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange stretches the expressive range of contemporary dance. Its work consists of formal concerts, interactive performances, specialized community residencies, and professional training in the art of community-based dance.

September 12 - 23, 2012 The Asian American Arts Alliance’s vibrant, innovative Locating the Sacred Festival celebrates three decades of the community that was forged together and, importantly, breaks new ground. Even in its nascent stages, the festival has been a triumph of community building, reaching out across New York to new partners for uncommon, exciting collaborations.

The Look to the Stars web site publicizes the work that celebrities are doing to make a positive difference in the world. The site features a searchable database of more than 2,000 celebrities and has a listing of more than 1,500 charities with descriptions and their celebrity supporters. Also on the site is a listing of top charities and top celebrity supporters for each of a range of causes.
